The chapel message yesterday morning struck something within me. Mr. Tim Plaxton, the new maintenance, encouraged us that as Christians the most menial and lowest task of all is what we should be doing. He support this with passages that talks about being first: one must be the servant of all.
The Chuukese people, I was taught, are one the most humble people that one could ever meet. Growing up I was encouraged to respect my elders and to submit to their authority. To me this was always a sign of strength rather than weakness or subordination. If I could stoop and do the lowest of tasks, then I have a strong heart. But spiritually, this is not the whole picture.
I learned that having a heart to do a low job reveals how much you are with Christ. Jesus himself sets the standard. He washed his disciples feet. The message was that service to each other IS one of the greatest thing one can do for the Kingdom of God. Its a task that we all must strive to do.

Today, Dave Owen, President of PIBC talked about the importance of cultivating a prayer life so that we can engage God as who He is to us: a God who wants to bless us and reveal to us His will in our lives.
Jens and Karyn Schultz, German Missionaries from Liebenzell-Germany, are in a dilemma with the INS. They have until next week to prepare a response. Dave and Brad are preparing for their annual recruiting and TRACS trip for this semester. These are indeed times to be even more prayerful.
