Yap continues

So we presented a skit twice at two churches for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The skit was funny yet simple picture of how we Christians sometimes do Christmas. It was about a family who wanted to take a picture of themselves with Jesus in the center. Just as they were about to take the pic, people began showing up to their house. And all of 'em wanted to be in the pic. They got so crowded that the photographer had to say that one had to go.........unfortunately they kicked Jesus out. To us, it may not just be people but maybe also activities and food.......or maybe even a feeling that necessarily does not put Jesus in the center......This Christmas may it be "CHRIST" MAS, not "X" - Mas. Picture update are coming................

Yap

So I am sitting alone in the Yap Telecomunication center 11:30 at night......
This Christmas, several of us from PIBC decided that it is time for another minstry in Yap.
We arrived yesterday safe and sound. So far, nothing yet has happen. Pastor Asael was kind enough to let us take the day off so that we can recuperate from the jetlack.
Yap is different! Even though I am from Chuuk and Yap is the state right next to us, it is cross-cultural! It like Santa Clause compared to Ghandi........well maybe not that extreme. Yap is also beautiful. The so called Chamorro Bay is absolutely gorgeous.
This ministry group consist of eleven guys. But another group, a group of ladies from PIBC happens to be here to do their internship. Talk about God's sovereignty....sorry PIBC admins..... God's will overrules!
On a more gentler note, this Sunday will be our official start. We will be doing a presentation at the English service in Colonia. And I have the honors to be the first preacher. Tomorrow will be a general clean-up for the whole island, so we're gonna be a part of that too. I guess this should do it for a general outlook of what's going on right now.

Micronesia vs. The Gospel

Problem #1: Reciprocity
The problem here is not that people are unwilling to be missionaries, do ministries, to support, or even just to share. The problem is the motive of giving. The motive is status. The idea of reciprocity is so ingrained that it takes time to change it.

Here's what it means: if someone supports you, you must somehow find a way to repay him back. Repaying someone in much more abundance than what he gives you boost your status in society.
