Why we can and must be Missionaries II

Now to articulate some of the comments that I made earlier. I strongly believe that we, Micronesians, as a people, are better candidates to be Missionaries than anywhere else in the world (alright that is a bit extreme) ;-)

But here's some reasons why I said this. First of all, we are a friendly bunch. I think we are one of the most friendliest people on earth. This is because we value people for who they are. We value people because they are people. We have a sense of feeling within us that says all people are special. Our worldview is quite unique. We see the world in light of what the Bible say and try to live it accordingly.

We empathize with people almost automatically. We can almost feel what people feel when they are happy, mourning, embarrased etc. We know how to connect. I have seen this happen among PIBC students on mission/ministry trips.

To be fair, here's an example. I was involved in a trip to the island of Yap. This island, though within Micronesia, is culturally, linguistically, and spritually separated from where I come from. During our time there, there were two tragic deaths. A man and a woman, husband and wife, relatives of our fellow PIBC Yapese Classmates. Here's what we did. We helped out, we were there, we ministered, and we cried along side with them. Not crying in the sense of mourning in the heart. We did that, but we also shed literal tears. We felt there grief, and we cried with them. We didn't even know the deceased all that too well. It was for the sharing of sorrow with our fellow Yapese brothers. Here's what I'm trying to say. We will make good people-to-people type Missionaries, because we have the ability within us.

Sounds like Barnabas. He was a good missionary.
